Sekala Private Game Lodge is an exclusive lodge (Malaria Free ) within the Welgevonden Game Reserve, which is home to the Big Five and is found within the Waterberg Biosphere, just two hours north of Pretoria and two and a half hours from OR Tambo Airport.
Guests can look forward to uninterrupted early morning sun rise vista off the main deck, while having a coffee to awaken the senses. The bush comes alive on your early morning game drives and it is not uncommon to see Lion or Elephant just a stone’s throw from the game viewing vehicle going through their early morning routines.
Nestled in Welgevonden bush, Sekala has two main lodges, 5 separate en-suite double premier suites which sleep two adults in each. The superior executive family suite which sleeps family of four available on request. Guided game drives by Sekala’s own game ranger (2 per day) provides guests with the opportunity to see the Big 5 whilst also having the opportunity to learn more about the reserve, its animals and array of birdlife and fauna and flora. Sekala also offers a self-catering sole-use option or a fully catered sole-use option.
The lodge facilities include 2 rock swimming pools, conference room, bar, library and lounge area at the main lodge, private outdoor shower in every chalet, private helipad, hide and waterhole. Each suite has a fridge as well tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary WiFi is available at the lodge and free parking at the main gate.
For young children under 5 who cannot go on 3 hour game drive a 1 hour game drive after breakfast or a guided nature walk is offered around the 2ha property within the fenced off area.

Not only can you take in the breathtaking views of the Waterberg world heritage region, see the Big 5 in unspoiled bushveld this is a bird and flora lovers paradise with over 300 bird species and 270 flower species having been identified on the Welgevonden Game Reserve.
Remember to bring: Camera, binoculars, Jacket, sunglasses, bird and wildlife reference books, a hat and sunscreen lotion. Cool clothing for summer and warm for winter are advised as the region is subject to sudden weather changes, particularly in the mountains.
