Peace is found in the flow of a river and the eco-friendly, luxurious guest rooms that all face the Zambezi. The lodge is owner-run and champions of locally made and personal hospitality.
The boutique bush lodge has five intimate, river-facing guest chalets, open-fronted for a greater connection with nature, and one riverside family cottage. You’ll hear hippos grunting every evening, before they come onto the property to graze the lawns behind the chalets.
Chundukwa River Lodge is a destination in itself, half an hour’s drive from Livingstone, 36km upstream of the Victoria Falls. Come here to retreat, relax, recover, horse-ride, bird-watch, cruise on the Zambezi, explore the Victoria Falls and try some of the adventure and safari activities in the area. This patch of paradise has been in the family for over 50 years, and is intimately connected with the environment and the people, their tribal language and traditions. Visit the local village and meet the people. Chundukwa is renowned for their riding stables with horses for all abilities, child-friendly farmyard animals, delightful staff and delicious meals.
Situated on the grassy banks of the Zambezi River just 25 km upstream from the mighty Victoria Falls, our elevated open-fronted chalets boast stunning views of the Zambezi River. We are located in a game-rich area and sightings of hippo and elephant among other animals are common. There is also an abundance of plant and birdlife to be found surrounding the lodge and although the sounds of the bush might briefly keep you awake; this is short-lived as their chatter soon softens to a unique African lullaby.
The Victoria Falls region has become the premier adventure hotspot of Africa with a multitude of activities to suit every traveller. Of course, guided walking safaris and game drives are activities not to be missed. Those seeking adventure will enjoy adrenaline-pumping white water rafting in the river or taking a horseback ride from the lodge, through the bush and alongside the river and enjoy beautiful scenery while doing so
