This ultra luxurious private safari experience is located within Thornybush Nature Reserve and embodies the spirit of coming home and encourages re-connection to nature. 

The main lodge is spacious with massive cathedral windows and doors that open wide – you will feel part of the bush. Socialise over wine tasting, a game of chess at the fireplace or watch wildlife from the large wraparound deck. The atmosphere is magical, and we have created spaces for you to enjoy it.

The four spacious Suites, each accommodating two guests, all offer beautiful views from the private shaded deck – watch the wildlife from the heated plunge pool. Central air-conditioning and overhead ceiling fans ward off the summer heat, while underfloor heating and heated towel rails in the bathroom take the edge off a chilly winter’s evening. Monwana is located in the private 14,000-hectare Thornybush Game Reserve, and is part of the Greater Kruger National Park, a natural ecosystem of almost 2 million hectares with some of the most exciting wildlife viewing on earth. Here the symbiotic partnership between tourism and conservation has created a spectacular wilderness where animals have learned over time that they are safe and respected. In return, we are invited into their sacred kingdom.

Thornybush Nature Reserve shares an unfenced border with the Greater Kruger National Park, one of Africa’s oldest and richest protected wilderness areas. The area is well-known for the quality and quantity of its sightings of Africa’s most elusive cat – the leopard.
