The lodge’s main deck and associated sitting areas, as well as the 4 spacious bedrooms are almost completely open in the front, providing unhindered views over the Luvuvhu river below and the baobab-dotted plains beyond. The design is unapologetically sleek and futuristic, yet the copious use of wood and canvas prevents the lodge from appearing sterile or clinical. Pel’s Post is geared for a family or large groups of friends who wish to utilize the entire lodge and enjoy absolute privacy. The lodge consists of four suites which accommodates a maximum of eight guests. Should you however be travelling in a smaller group, you are most welcome to book on a per room, per night basis.
The Pafuri region of the Kruger is arguably the most scenic part within the Kruger park. Being located on the western edge of the Makuleke concession, Pel’s Post offers easy access to two magnificent gorges close by, namely the Lanner Gorge and the breathtaking Mutale Gorge. See the largest fever tree forest in the Southern Hemisphere, giant baobab trees and breathtaking pans are a birder’s paradise, and the notorious Crook’s Corner—where South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique meet on the Limpopo river, can all be found if you travel farther east in the concession near Pafuri Camp.

The Luvuvhu river serves as the primary artery whose waters draw much of the wildlife found in this often fairly dry area, from the breathtaking views down on the river from the lodge, the dramatic Lanner valley the river has cut, to the game drives and hikes through its gorgeous riverine forest. Although the Pafuri region does not have the same concentration of plains game and predators as the southern half of the park, you are still likely to see superb elephant and good herds of buffalo, especially along the river.
