The reserve has an unfenced border with the National Park allowing animals free-range and giving guests the opportunity to view the greatest diversity of wildlife that Africa has to offer. Beautifully positioned on a hill with sweeping views over the plains and bushveld, Nkarhi is a wonderful base for a family or group of friends from which to explore the surrounding wilderness.

The farm-style family home has 4 bedrooms, 2 in the main house and 2 in the adjacent family cottage. Beautifully-kept lawns surround both and there is a swimming pool and boma area with firepit outside, all wonderful spaces for spending time with family and enjoying the bush, unhindered.

The house can be booked on an exclusive-use basis only and sleeps 8, or 9 with an additional child. Both self-catering and fully-catered options are available for as much freedom as desired and the experience is infused with the warm, honest hospitality of Tanda Tula. Each option comes with a private guide, tracker and vehicle, as well as a housekeeper and camp hand are always included, and with the fully-catered option, a private chef and butler will be available too. The house is solar powered and completely off-grid, allowing for total relaxation.

Start the day with a steaming cup of coffee enjoyed under ancient rustling trees as a golden orb sun rises to greet you. And from here things just keep getting better. An early morning game drive sees wildlife waking up to the day, grazing and browsing for their breakfast. Or gently watch the bush world go by without leaving Nkarhi at all. Here you’re surrounded by free-roaming wildlife, so you can game view poolside if you please. Only elephant are kept at bay by an electrified wire spun around the perimeter of the Nkarhi property, but you will still see them clearly too.

Chill through the day, swim, read, nap and snack. Then take in a guided game drive in the late afternoon and sip cool sundowners under big African skies. Your dedicated ranger and tracker will host you with natural aplomb and excellent wildlife sightings are everywhere. If you want to stretch your legs, a ranger-guided bush walk is a great way to see wildlife at eye level – it’s a memorable and very personal encounter.

Nkarhi is an enticing bushveld home-from-home experience, offered as self-catering or fully inclusive with your own private chef. So you can do as much or as little as you please, though housekeepers and camp hands assist daily to keep life simple and hassle-free.
